There was an interesting piece of information appeared in Times of India last month. The story said No Google in Google.
The story says that there is a village named "Google". The Google village is 510 kms north east of Bangalore, and is located on banks of river Krishna in Raichur district. There are around 1000 residents in Google Village. But sadly in spite of name of the village being google, the village has no internet facility.
If we say that the number of villagers who had heard of there famous namesake in cyberspace are quit few, then it’s not the issue of getting shock. landlord Basavarajappa Gouda Police Patil said that it’s the issue of a proud when he got to know that his grand daughter once told him about 2 boys who had designed a website after there village. He further added that anyone who will get to know that their village has got so much of popularity in the cyber world will defiantly become happy.
According to a story there was the saint poet Allama Prabhu once stopped in the village while going from Basava Kalyan to Shreeshailam in Andhra Pradesh. The cave which he took for the stay was named as Gavi Gallu, & as days passed its name had change to sound as Googallu.
To give as the proof a resident pointed towards a temple top which is now the underground cave. The devotees who want to enter the cave crawl through a hole in the ground.
Writer Chidananda Sali says that there village is name after the rocks started to sing. The name comes from the name Kooguva Kallu’ which means the stones that make a pleasing sound. When the river water strikes it.
