I see so much written against the movie 'slumdog millionaire' that Icould not help writing this.
the first thing thing i wish to point out is that a slumdog does not mean a dog with a tail but 'an underdog from slums', and an underdog means a person who is at a disadvantage.
Secondly, I feel the movie has been beautifully made, which has been able to arouse the feelings of us Indians for our country. Somewhere in our cozy homes, we forget that there are people who are living in such conditions, and I am grateful to the movie makers for they have diverted our attention towards the needy and we must all come forward to take a step in this direction rather than expecting the producers and the directors to chew food for us and put it in our mouths.
These people have done their jobs, now we need to do ours. everyone expects a rosy picture of India, of incredible India to be shown to the world, so why not this?
We need to make India that beautiful first. of course, so many movies are made portraying the beautiful aspects of our country, if someone chose to show a bitter reality, why are we making an issue out of it? in the entire movie, the sympathy remains with the boy who emerges a winner at the end of all hardships. we are simply doing what the director and the producer of the movie have done : simply writing about it will not make India better.

Good write-up Avneet!I agree, what is portrayed in the movie is the reality of millions of Indians and just because we are lucky that we don't have to live that reality, we can't (and shouldn't) deny that this state of things exists.

I am sorry Avneet as I dont see eye to eye with you on this. This is not for the first time that a movie has portrayed a problem of our country. There are hundreds of movies that have exposed our political leaders, shown gang rapes, gang wars, poverty and what not. And that too in a very grotesque way. Nobody has ever objected. We have digested everything. And we Indians are known world over for stomaching anything that can point a finger at us. I cant allow the Producer and director of the movie to walk with this distinction that they only have highlighted the problems in India. In fact, it is the one liner on America from an American mouth that has hurt our sensibilities.
Avneet it's good to think good for your country. It's very good to point out such bad things to make your nation more better for its citizen's. I don't understand why people say bad about this movie. They dont know that if such bad things come out from the end of foriegn angle, which means help is sure. This film will help our country to reunite on the name of nationhood and to project some big celebrities to project them more Indian then others.
We want more such movies from Hollywood.
Great Keep It up!!!
