A lot of information is available to us about the threat to our environment but we all shut our eyes to the damage.
The younger generation, who copy the western trends in every possible way, who pretend to be modern and liberal need to copy the west in certain more aspects like keeping their surroundings clean, saving wildlife, causing less pollution and conserving nature in every possible way.
Conserving nature is a second step, the first is to be aware of the situation that the world is facing today. the students have a compulsory exam to take on ' environmental science' for which they study with much pain and forget all about the text as soon as they are out of the examination hall. it is a pity that many Indian students still do not know what terms like ozone layer depletion, global warming, green-house effect, ecological balance and extinction of species mean.
the Indian youth love to waste fuel, litter where ever they can and waste a lot of food.
I wish we start copying the west in a couple of ways as:
1.the teachers and parents constantly guide and remind kids about environmental problems.
2.we all make an effort to save water, paper, electricity and fuel.
3.send paper for recycling, which would save trees.
4.make a habit of using a garbage bin and not the door-step of your neighbour. also keep a garbage bag in your car; this would help in keeping the roads clean.
5.encourage everyone to plant trees.
6.use a shared transport if going to the same place of work. This not only improves environment and traffic problem, but also saves u money.
7.take your own bag for shopping and avoid receiving plastic bag from the shopkeeper.
8.do not waste food.
these are just a couple of things that everyone can do, but are easy ones to start with. once you get into this habit, you would surely feel proud of yourself. educate others too in this regard and make our country a better place to live.
